Hello!

New Items

It's been awhile since I've posted, both here and on Etsy. So I decided to combine the two and show off some of my new designs.  I have two new collections in my shop: The Tiny Earrings Collection and Care Bear Pendants.

The Tiny Earrings are all made from Precious Metal Clay (PMC), a clay form of silver that becomes fine silver once fired. Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver. It does not have the tarnishing problem that sterling silver has because it is not an alloy. Sterling silver is 92.5% silver.  I absolutely adore working with metal clay. I come from a ceramics background, so working with clay feels very comfortable to me. One thing I was not prepared for was the amount of clay you get for the price. When you're working with clay or porcelain you can get a 20 pound block for less than $20. The first PMC class I took I was excited because we were going to get $70 worth of clay. I was picturing something about the size of a brick. Instead I received a little bag about the size of a quarter. It was a little bit of a shock.

Anyway...there earrings are all very small posts (hence the name "Tiny Earring Collection").  I have done several designs including a holiday series. My current favorites are the little pink flowers pictured here. They are darling! (If I do say so myself.) Other designs are available in my shop, so be sure to check them out.

The Care Bears line started when I found a sticker set while shopping a few months ago. I grew up with the Care Bears. I watched the movies, had the stuffed animals and the little plastic posable figures. I was a sucker for rainbows, so Cheer Bear was always my favorite. For some reason I never really liked Tender Heart Bear. Actually, I actively disliked him. As I think about it now it seems such a strange thing to have a really strong opinion about. But that's what being a kid is all about - worrying about trivial things! This line is a chance for me to relive my childhood memories and have a little fun.

Care Bear Fans....can you remember the names of the bears pictured here? You can quiz yourself on even more Bears in my shop.  Yearning for more Care Bear stuff?  Check out this site, with lots of pictures and links.

FYI: Bears pictured from top to bottom are Funshine Bear, Goodnight Bear, and, of course, Cheer Bear.

Happy New Year!
